Ahoy there

Hello there, my name is Jack Tar and I am an Able Seabear that has just been adopted from some very smashing people at www.helpforheroes.org.uk by my new friend Daniel who is a sailor in the Royal Navy :)

I am 1ft tall, have brown fur and can normally be found wearing desert combat uniform as unfortunately the Navy dont make number 4 uniform in my size (although occasionally you may see me in my number 1 parade uniform if your lucky!) Im into eating as many sweets and chocolates as I can (every now and then I may get a ginsters from the NAAFI (Navy, Army, Airforce Institue- shops and clubs run by civillian members of the Naafi organisation, on ships and bases home and in warzones) aswell) sleeping, taking pictures or even modeling for them and keeping the morale of my friends up. I havnt been working for the Navy that long as I'm only a couple of month old.

Daniel is 5ft 9 tall also has brown fur (only on top of his head for some reason? Maybe he's ill or something and thats why the rest of his body is bold, I dont know?) likes to dress casually (although I think he looks like an idiot with the way he wears his civvie clothing) and likes heavy metal/ rock music and reading Sherlock Holmes novels. He's 23 and has been in the Navy for nearly 4 years now and as such is due to get his first good conduct badge in November- lucky swine! In his spare time he volunteers to work at his local sea cadet unit back home and is also a member or an organization called "Join Me" who try to spread a little bit of happiness into other people lives by doing random acts of kindness and every now and then raise a bit of money for charity.

At the moment we are enjoying our summer leave before going back to work. We're about to start working at HMS Seahawk (also known as RNAS Culdrose) which is in Helston, Cornwall. It is home to the Navy's search and rescue squadron (NAS 771) aswell as the fleets Seaking and Merlin Helicopters and the Maritime Aviation Support Force (MASF) which is who were about to start working for.

At the moment we don't know much about MASF apart from it replaces the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Naval Support Unit and that when an aircraft squadron deploys to a ship or another land base the MASF normally go with them. I can't wait to join as this will be my first time anywhere- at the moment though Daniel is'nt too optimistic right now, he's a bit miffed as he only left his last ship 8 month ago to join the Commando Logistic Regiment Royal Marines and was meant to be there for another year: the Navy only gave him a weeks notice before going on holiday that he was to join a new unit. He says this is why he's not happy but I reckon its because he does'nt get to wear combat uniform anymore and instead gone back to wearing navy number 4's again ha ha ha ha :)

Thats all for now but hope to see you all soon- ill try and get a better picture of me and Daniel soon but for now im afraid the one from the help for heroes website will have to do and one of Danny by himself .
